Octopus is the pride of Galicia, and this tin is simply octopus (Octopus vulgaris), olive oil, salt and natural smoke. The smoking gives the tender pieces a gentle, bacony depth that works beautifully with the richness of the oil. Net weight 115g (72g drained).
Conservas Luliña is a Galician conservas brand working with seafood from the Ría de Arousa in the Rías Baixas, with around fifteen years in the trade. It gives 15 cents from every tin sold to the Ecomar Foundation to help fund clean-ups of the coast and sea.
Eat it straight from the tin with bread, scatter it over boiled potatoes with a pinch of pimentón for a smoky take on pulpo a feira, or toss it through a salad or pasta. Keep in the fridge once opened and eat within 24 hours.
