Le Specialità is Majani’s classic assortment, a box of several of its signature chocolates: smooth milk chocolates, nutty pralines and dark chocolate, with almond and caramel among the flavours. This is the smallest size of the range, at 122g, and makes a neat present.
Majani was established in Bologna in 1796 and is one of Italy’s oldest chocolate makers. It still makes its chocolate from the raw bean in-house, sourcing cocoa from many different origins, and it is credited with Scorza, the first solid chocolate sold in Italy, in 1832. In 1911 it won Fiat’s competition to create a chocolate for the launch of the Tipo 4 car with a four-layer cremino, the Cremino Fiat, which it still makes today.
A good choice to bring to a Christmas drinks party, or to open with coffee at the end of the meal.
