Majani has been making chocolate in Bologna since 1796, which makes it one of the oldest chocolate houses in Italy. It still works from the cocoa bean, and gave Italy its first solid chocolate, Scorza, in 1832. The firm is best known for the Cremino Fiat, the four-layer chocolate Aldo Majani created in 1911 to win Fiat’s competition for the launch of its Tipo 4 car.
A nice alternative to the usual after-dinner mints on the coffee tray over Christmas, and an easy small stocking filler.
