Inspired by visits to India, this chutney pairs tomatoes with what Hawkshead Relish call the Indian holy trinity of garlic, ginger and chilli. Tomato makes up 42% of the jar, cooked down with onions and brown sugar and spiced with cumin seeds, cayenne and turmeric. It is savoury and warm rather than fiercely hot. The jar is 190g.
Serve it with a homemade curry and poppadoms, dollop it on a burger, have it with cheese on toast, or stir a spoonful into tomato soup to give it some depth.
Made by hand in open pans in the Lake District by Hawkshead Relish, winners of more than 60 Great Taste Awards.
