Marc de Champagne truffles are Holdsworth’s signature chocolate. The centre is a smooth, creamy butter ganache lightly infused with Marc de Champagne – the brandy distilled from the skins and pips left over from champagne pressing – and each one is enrobed in milk chocolate. Soft, rich and gently boozy, they are a proper traditional truffle.
Holdsworth Chocolates was founded in March 1988 by Barbara Holdsworth in Bakewell, in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District, with the belief that there was a market for proper British handmade chocolates. By 2006 they were stocked in John Lewis, Harrods, Selfridges and Chatsworth House, and since 2014 they have made their chocolates in a purpose-built kitchen in Bakewell. Everything is still hand-finished and hand-packed, using sustainably sourced single-origin Colombian chocolate from Casa Luker.
