Mendiants are a traditional Christmas sweet in France and Belgium – thin discs of chocolate topped with nuts and fruit. Carline’s version here is all about the milk chocolate and nuts: creamy Belgian milk chocolate discs with a crunchy nut topping. The pack weighs 155g.
Carline was founded in 1980 in Roeselare, just south of Bruges, by Carlos Noppe and his wife Cathy Lingier, who named it after a blend of their names. Their son Kristof took on the business with the next generation in 2002, and it has grown into one of the leading chocolate and marzipan makers in Flanders. Their couvertures are made to their own recipes with only pure cocoa butter and natural vanilla, and they also run a marzipan workshop making almond marzipan the traditional way.
Easy to share with coffee after dinner, and a nice small gift for milk chocolate fans.
