These are tartufi dolci, the soft chocolate truffles of Piedmont, made with ground and chopped IGP Piedmont hazelnuts. The 165g box mixes several flavours: gianduja (hazelnut and chocolate), pistachio with white chocolate, white hazelnut, extra dark, amaretti biscuit and cappuccino. The nuts are roasted and ground in-house, and the truffles are left to rest overnight so they set with the right smooth, melting texture. Presented in an elegant case with a silver band.
Antica Torroneria Piemontese was founded in 1885 by Giuseppe Sebaste, a pastry apprentice who, unable to afford almonds for his torrone, turned to the hazelnuts that grew all over the hills around him. The family business, now in its fifth generation, still works at Grinzane Cavour in the Langhe, making torrone and truffles by artisan methods.
A lovely box to bring to a Christmas gathering, or to pass round with coffee and a digestivo.
