Some of the best things start as a secret. Zarro Pomelo Vermut has its roots in a cherished family recipe — a private blend of aromatic herbs and local wine that Carlos Muñecas’ father would make for friends and family in Madrid. In 1968, Carlos decided to take that beloved recipe and turn it into something bigger. His friends called him loco. More than 55 years later, it’s fair to say he proved them wrong. Zarro Pomelo Vermut is still crafted with tradition in mind.
Today, Zarro is one of Madrid’s most iconic vermouth producers, operating six facilities in Fuenlabrada and producing an extraordinary four million litres of vermouth every year. Yet despite the scale, the spirit of craft has never been lost — Zarro even holds the distinction of being the first vermouth in Spain to be certified organic by the European Union.
