A rich, pourable caramel from Hawkshead Relish, made with butter, fresh cream, golden syrup, sugar and brown sugar, and seasoned with Halen Môn sea salt from Anglesey. The salt takes the edge off the sweetness and brings out the buttery, toffee flavour.
Warm it gently and pour it over ice cream, pancakes, brownies or a sticky toffee pudding, or drizzle it over sliced apples or bananas. La’al is Cumbrian dialect for small, and this little jar makes a good stocking filler.
Hawkshead Relish began in 1999 in Mark and Maria Whitehead’s café in Hawkshead and now makes more than 100 products by hand in the Lake District.
