A glorious traditional curd from Hawkshead Relish, made with fresh whole lemons, eggs, butter and sugar and finished with lemon zest. Lemons and lemon pulp together make up nearly a quarter of the jar, so it is properly sharp and zesty, with a smooth, buttery richness.
Spread it on toast, crumpets or warm scones, fold it through whipped cream or Greek yoghurt, or spoon it over a pavlova. La’al is Cumbrian dialect for small, and Hawkshead’s little La’al jars are ideal for stocking fillers and hampers.
Hawkshead Relish have been making preserves by hand in open pans beside Esthwaite Water in the Lake District since 1999.
