Three of Hawkshead Relish’s sweet La’al jars, hand wrapped in cellophane and tied with a raffia bow. Inside are Five Fruit Marmalade, made with oranges, lemons, limes, kumquats and grapefruit and plenty of peel; Raspberry & Vanilla Jam, simply packed with raspberries and a hint of vanilla; and Lemon Curd, made with fresh whole lemons, eggs and butter and finished with lemon zest. The jars range from 90g to 120g.
La’al is Cumbrian dialect for small. Hawkshead Relish have been making preserves by hand in open pans in the Lake District since 1999.
A lovely little present for anyone who takes their toast seriously, and it covers scones and a Victoria sponge too.
