Lir Chocolates was started in Dublin in 1987 by Connie Doody and Mary White, who made their first chocolates on Connie’s kitchen table with a food mixer and a bowl. The business grew from that kitchen-table start into a major chocolate maker, moving to a purpose-built factory in Navan, County Meath, in 2005. Lir now employs over 250 people and makes more than 100 million chocolates a year, still hand-finished, and has picked up several Great Taste Awards along the way.
