Athenian Thins lay the flavours of baklava out flat. Extra-thin sheets of phyllo pastry are glazed with honey and baked until super crunchy, and this version is topped with chocolate and hazelnut. The makers describe them as an open take on baklava, or a more sophisticated wafer – crisp, light and sweet, with the nuttiness of the hazelnut coming through. Each box holds 80g.
They are made by Plenty Oh!, a Greek snack brand based in Ioannina in north-west Greece, a town long known for its baklava. The brand pairs nuts and honey with that very fine, crackly pastry to give Greek snacking a modern twist.
Lovely with an espresso, crumbled over ice cream, or passed round after dinner when no one has room for pudding.
