This is arguably the most iconic of all Spanish wines. Vega Sicilia Unico ranks up there with the world’s very best reds. 2007 was a challenging year that produced an exquisite vintage for Vega Sicilia in Ribera del Duero. This vintage balances elegance and power, yet has a lightness to it. The wine is vivid ruby-red, it offers spice and mineral-accented redcurrant, cherry, tobacco and candied rose on this perfumed nose. The sumptuous palate has lively red fruit, floral pastille flavours and earthy suggestions of chewing tobacco and succulent herbs. It is juicy, graceful and energetic with a strong finishing cut, resonating floral character and velvety tannins coming in late to add shape and grip. An utter joy to behold.
