Virgen de la Estrella is an olive oil producer that won an award for its organic Morisca extra virgin olive oil at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition. The cooperative that produces Virgen de la Estrella’s olive oil used traditional methods to produce 4,000 tons of extra virgin olive oil in a good crop year (not often right now!)
Maimona extra virgin is obtained using Morisca olives, native to the province of Badajoz. This gives the oil a beautiful dark green colour, an apple-like aroma and a perfectly balanced peppery flavour, with bitter and slightly spicy hints. Superb value.
