Flors (Catalan for flowers) are Amatller’s signature chocolates: little flower-shaped chocolates with a praline centre. This 144g box brings together four varieties – 70% dark chocolate with orange, white chocolate with lemon, milk chocolate with raspberry and milk chocolate with coffee – in a floral case, with a tasting guide inside. Amatller designed it for the after-dinner moment and for sharing.
Chocolate Amatller was founded in 1797 by Gabriel Amatller in a small workshop in the Born, the old quarter of Barcelona near Santa Maria del Mar, and is one of the oldest chocolate brands in Europe still going. His sons Antoni and Domingo added the import of cocoa, coffee, sugar and vanilla. The family’s modernista home, Casa Amatller on the Passeig de Gràcia, was designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch and finished in 1900 – the year of the company’s centenary, which it celebrated with posters by Alphonse Mucha. Since 1972 Amatller has belonged to the Coll family of Simón Coll, bean-to-bar chocolate makers since 1840.
