Ermesenda Catalan Cow’s Cheese

A unique, very small production cow’s milk cheese from the mountains of the Alt Urgell of Cataluña,  Ermesenda is produced in the style of Raclette.  Salvador, the master cheesemaker, only makes a handful of raw cow’s milk cheeses, and we are lucky to sell this beauty – very hard to find in the UK, or indeed Spain.

Creamy, unctuous unpasteurised cow’s milk cheese from Adrall, Catalunya. Almost Swiss in style, this medium-hard cheese, with little air pockets has a slightly elastic texture that coats the mouth. Sweet initial flavour with fruity and yoghurt undertones and an aftertaste of raw hazelnuts and almonds. This is fabulous on its own or a perfect melting cheese for a luxurious cheese on toast. It is savoury and complex with a pleasantly tangy finish. Perfect paired with a young Catalan red wine.
